Fish Hoek Croquet Club is situated in the picturesque Fish Hoek valley, on the Cape Peninsula some 40km south of Cape Town. Golf Croquet is played. There are two full sized courts and a small club house. Regular club playing days are Tuesday and Saturday afternoons from 1:30 pm, and Thursday mornings at 9:00 am when team practice takes priority. Our members range from those with enviably low handicaps who participate regularly in competitions, to social players who enjoy an afternoon in the sun with good company.
Members and Visitors:
The Club has approximately 40 members, about half of whom participate regularly in local and National competitions and tournaments. New members (there is an annual membership fee) and visitors are welcome. Visitors’ green fees are R25, which includes tea. We have suspended the wearing of white clothing due to the water shortage and constant washing required to keep them clean!
The club has had their application approved to obtain treated water for our lawns. Please note that this will be non-potable water and is classified as “treated effluent”. As such, members will need to exercise caution. No bare feet and please wash your hands after play.
The latest edition of ‘Martin’s Moonlight Madness’ was held on 31 March. This fun competition was proposed by Martin West and is held under the full moon. Alan Roberts and Wayne Cotton were the winners this time around.
Upcoming Events at Fish Hoek Croquet Club:
Sunday 6 May – Handicap Singles tournament (postponed until condition of lawns has improved)
Sunday 27 May – Handicap Doubles tournament (postponed until condition of lawns has improved)
October 2018 – Our 50th anniversary. This will be a ‘high tea’ and formal wear will be required. Date and venue to be confirmed.
