Somerset College Preparatory Croquet News

Our Prep croquet players are still laying claim to a corner of the rugby field. Our final 2010 tournament was held over two weeks, with the players competing in a Pairs competition and a Singles competition. It was tense. Competition was fierce. Tempers got a little frayed, but everyone remembered their manners. It was great fun! Some amazing croquet shots were played. Keenen Fitzhenry played a skilful in-off shot to win a point and managed to score another spectacular point, sending his ball up the entire length of the croquet lawn to run the hoop. Robert Bergh’s jump shots are almost 100% successful. These kids make this difficult shot look so easy!

The Pairs champions are Josh Smit and Keenen Fitzhenry. Tim Coxon is our 2010 Singles champion. Well done to ALL players. You were a fantastic group of players. I really enjoyed coaching you. Tim Coxon is our man of the season, displaying exemplary manners on and off the field, as well as wonderful sportsmanship. Croquet is new to Somerset College, but it’s here to stay.

Now if we can just persuade those touch rugby players in the Senior school to take off their spikes…
